Triad was founded to bring the negotiation and difficult conversations ™ approach developed at the Harvard Negotiation Project to the real challenges facing corporate clients and communities.
The Harvard Negotiation Project (HNP) was founded by Roger Fisher, Bill Ury, and Bruce Patton in 1979, and quickly became the most respected negotiation research institution in the world. Its members have made significant contributions to the way people, organizations, and nations communicate and manage their differences.
Work at HNP is guided by a simple question: In the real world, what works? The goal has never been to settle questions of academic intrigue, but to develop practical theory for professionals facing problems in the real worlds of business, education, and international conflict.
This philosophy yielded the block-buster Getting to Yes (Fisher, Ury, Patton) as well as the New York Times Business bestseller, Difficult Conversations (Stone, Patton, Heen), which has sold a half million copies in North America and has been translated into 19 languages.
On the heels of their successful collaboration on Difficult Conversations, Heen and Stone founded Triad Consulting Group in Cambridge, MA. At Triad they work with a select group of colleagues who are leaders in the fields of negotiation, psychology, communication, organizational behavior, and conflict resolution.
In the span of only a few years, Triad has taken its place among the premiere corporate education and capacity-building firms in the world, with a client list that includes many of the world's leading corporations. In addition, Triad works with a wide array of non-profit and community organizations, and their work in the arena of international conflict has taken their consultants to Northern Ireland, Russia, South Africa, Cyprus, the Middle East, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Burundi.
