Don Thompson | Consultant
Don is a consultant with Triad Consulting in the field of negotiation and conflict management. Based in Toronto, he designs and delivers management training programs and advises clients on negotiation strategy.
His practice Includes negotiation training for corporate and public sector organizations and executive coaching. Through his consulting practice he advises clients on negotiation strategy with a focus on developing high value, long-term relationships with key customers and suppliers.
Don works with organizations on a variety of negotiation issues including those related to the development and management of key internal and external partnerships. Some of his clients include AstraZeneca, the Bank of Montreal, CIBC, the Canadian Department of Indian and Northern Affairs, the Department of Finance/Treasury Board of Canada, Falconbridge Mining, Hewlett Packard, Honda, INCO, Motorola, Maple Leaf Foods, Noranda Resources, Oppenheimer, Pillsbury, Wood Gundy, and Ontario Power Generation. He has also taught negotiation at Harvard Law School's Program of Instruction for Lawyers.
Before becoming involved in the negotiation field, Don worked for the Molson Company Limited, where he held a number of senior management positions in marketing and public relations, including Senior Vice President and General Manager of Molson's sports and entertainment division. With Molstar Communications he was responsible for negotiating and managing the broadcast rights agreements with the National Hockey League, the Canadian NHL clubs, and Canadian broadcasters. Don later served as the Marketing Vice-President for The Niagara Institute, a non-profit organization that offers leadership and professional development programs for corporate executives.
Don is a graduate of the University of Toronto with a Masters Degree in History. He is married with two sons.
