Gillien is a consultant with Triad Consulting Group and a Lecturer on Law at Harvard Law School. At Harvard, she teaches the negotiation workshop, the Program on Negotiation’s negotiation seminar, and continuing education courses for lawyers. In her consulting, she works with a range of organizations, from large companies to small non-profits as a trainer, consultant, and mediator.

Her private sector experience includes teaching negotiation, mediation, and communication workshops for executives across the U.S. Her clients have included Compaq, Eli Lily, Gap, Deloitte & Touche, First Data, BMC Software, and Millennium Pharmaceuticals. In addition, she has trained practicing attorneys through Harvard's Program of Instruction for Lawyers.

In the public sector, she has worked in a variety of contexts. She has mediated discussions between members of a university administrative team in crisis; facilitated problem-solving among 30 state-based gun control organizations, and led a long-term collaboration aimed at improving services for victims of sexual assault. She has also assisted several local and national non-profit groups with strategic planning and inter-organizational conflict. At The Citadel Military College of South Carolina, she has taught workshops in leadership and conflict resolution to cadets as part of that institution's historic transition to co-education.

She is a graduate of Harvard Law School, the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and Yale University. Before graduate school, she spent two years working and traveling in Asia. When she is not working, she is busy negotiating with infant twins and a four-year old son.
